The impact of reinvesting in your local community has benefits far beyond the tangible dollar support.

Many of the owners of the small businesses here in Portland live & work in our city. Their kids go to the same school as yours, they commute on the same streets, they pay the same taxes. They are invested in the vibrance of our Portland community.

We commonly undervalue the power of our dollar. Our country is built on capitalism, and while it has been manipulated throughout history to reveal its faults, I’d like to offer a view of the brighter side of the coin.

We, as individuals, have the opportunity each and every day to vote with our dollar. This particular example is not meant in the political sense, although as we know, everything is interconnected. 

What I’m referring to is Conscious/Conscience Capitalism. Conscience in the moral sense, and Conscious in the objective sense of being acutely & abundantly aware that our purchases create a ripple effect in our shared communities.

By committing to this awareness, we can direct these ripples to the communities we care about, causes that align with our personal values, and shape the entire commerce system from the way products are made, to how companies treat their employees.

Buy with intention. Make an impact. 

We don’t need every person spending their money consciously 100% of the time. We need thousands - MILLIONS - of people practicing spending thoughtfully and with awareness. Strengthening that muscle of care and intent.

My goal is to help make this process less overwhelming. Not to direct you towards certain purchases over others, but rather to challenge you: to define your values, and start to align with them over and over again, one purchase at a time. 

This is about information, and encouraging you, the consumer, to quiet the noise of thousands of promotions and ads vying for your attention, and choose the option that has the biggest impact towards the values and communities you care about.

Not necessarily the cheapest or the most convenient - but the best choice for you & the type of world you wish to live in.
